Dog Is Dead come to Dublin this March

One of the UKs indie band hopes of 2012, dog is dead are bringing their energetic live show to Dublin on March 9 when they will play The Academy 2. Tickets €12.00 inclusive of booking fee are on sale now from Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.ie.

Formed from the meeting of five lively minds in Nottingham in 2008 Dog Is Dead have set about establishing themselves in the style of their music and personalities, with the minimum of fuss but the maximum of drive, determination and individuality.

With band members drawing influence from a wide range of music, their canon to date veers from African Hi-Life rhythms to complexities drawn from the non goblins and pixies end of prog, the sharp choruses of 80’s power pop and the twists and turns of intelligent alternative music. They are truly a band without a box and all the better for it.

Things really begin for Dog Is Dead with the self-release of their debut single, and the opening shot in a trilogy that ends with new single ‘River Jordan’, ‘Glockenspiel Song’ in June of 2010. Captivating their home town of Nottingham almost immediately, the sold out shows in that area led to supports with a host of bands from Mumford and Sons to OK GO with many more in between. A string of festival performances across the likes of Dot to Dot and Splendour in 2009 had suggested this might be the way and confirmation came in repeat showings in 2010 in the fields of Glastonbury, where they became the only unsigned band to feature on the BBC2 coverage, and Summer Sundae. Huw Stephens declared ‘I defy you not to like this band’ whilst fellow Radio 1 type Kissy Sell Out was so enamoured he created his own remix of ‘Glockenspiel Song’.
