Dublin hip hop collective The Animators join T. Mills at The Academy next Wednesday

Dublin’s hottest new hip hop collective The Animators have been confirmed as special guests when Californian rapper T. Mills makes his Irish debut at The Academy 2 next Wednesday, January 25th.

The Animators are a collective of 5 MC's, 1 Singer and 2 Producers that blend Funk/Rnb/Soul/Hip Hop together and add their own Irish spice. Our names are Mango, Dizzy, Smokey Jay, Alan Newman, RV, Mr. HighSpeed, Mathman and Leiko.

The Animators have been together less than year and have already achieved great national success, amounted a huge fan-base and gained massive respect for their music. Although known individually for their own solo and group projects, their collective efforts as The Animators has recently seen them come 4th in a competition with over 700 entries to perform at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.

Born Travis Tatum Mills, T. Mills the 22-year-old was able to turn laptop musical experimentation in his bedroom into national tours and a recording contract with Columbia Records, all in just over two years. But the rapid ascent didn’t come without plenty of work. From an early age, T. Mills was musically curious. As a kid growing up in California, he learned how to play guitar and drums, before soon getting into singing. With an eclectic array of sounds grounding him, it’s no wonder that T. Mills's music is not neatly classifiable, pulling from a number of different places. “I would call it a mesh between hip-hop, R&B, electronic and dance,” he says, before truncating the description. “I call it hip-pop.”
