Miley Cyrus compares herself to Elvis Presley: "No one wants to admit that he was twerking"

Provocative pop star Miley Cyrus has likened the stir she causes with her dance moves to those of the King of Rock and Roll – Elvis Presley.

The ‘We Can’t Stop’ singer compared the uproar her twerking caused at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards to that of Elvis and his censored hip shaking in the 1950s.

21-year-old Miley told Australia’s Sunday Night programme: “Elvis, he wasn't wearing the outfits I was wearing but he was coming out and he was doing like the OG twerking.”

She went on to add that she believes women are judged more harshly when in comes to sexually suggestive dance moves:

“Like, no one wants to admit that he was twerking, he was. He was like sex. He was a symbol of sex but no one would have ever called Elvis a slut because he wasn't a girl.”

Another signature trait Miley discussed during her interview is her constant tongue wagging. She revealed the reason she strikes her tongue-out pose is because it is a reaction against press attention.

The ‘Wrecking Ball’ star explained: “The tongue started from, again, with me having to go on red carpets, and everyone would just tell all these girls that had so much makeup on and their hair all done in their perfect, little, pretty dress to smile and to wave. I hated when the paparazzi would tell me to blow them a kiss. It just felt so gross, and like, sexist for me to be standing there and these men to be taking my picture. So I just said forget it.”

Cyrus concluded: “I didn't want to be a pageant queen. I wanted to be a f***ing, excuse my language, rock star.”
