Michael Eavis denies Miley Cyrus will perform at Glastonbury 2016

Michael Eavis has dismissed speculation that Miley Cyrus will take to the stage at the 2016 Glastonbury Festival.

The US singer had been suggested recently in the media as a possible shock contender for next year's bill.

However, festival boss Eavis told the Mirror that while Cyrus is a "brilliant artist", there is "nothing in the pipeline" regarding booking her.

He added: "Our main focus is to discover a host of new artists we can showcase at Glastonbury 2016."

Eavis continued to say that he isn't averse to booking controversial acts, adding:

"Kanye West was one of the best to take to the Glastonbury stage and silenced a lot of his critics. However controversial the artist I’m sure they’ll take his stance and tell them: 'Shh'."
