Miley Cyrus could be about to land her sixth UK Top 5 hit with 'Midnight Sky,' which rises three places to Number 5 in the Official Singles Chart this week.

The track was released on August 14 this year by RCA Records, and is the 27-year-old pop star's lead single from her upcoming seventh studio album, She Is Miley Cyrus. It showcases a new direction for the always evolving global superstar. The new album is the follow-up to her 2019 EP, She Is Coming, which featured the lead single, 'Mother's Daughter'. 

'Midnight Sky' is a disco, synth-pop, electropop, and pop rock song, written by Cyrus, Ali Tamposi, Ilsey Juber and Jon Bellion with song's producers: Louis Bell and Andrew Watt.

In creating the song and its accompanying video, Cyrus drew from strong female musical icons like Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, and Debbie Harry for inspiration.

The music video showcases Cyrus as her true self: unapologetic, diverse, sexy, confident, experimental, and strong. It takes viewers through her creative vision, which displays her complete control of the narrative often told through the mouths of the media.

As a musician, the enormously talented star continues to push boundaries and experiment with her sound and look. Cyrus has proven to be many things throughout her career, and boring is certainly not one of them.
