Miley Cyrus has revealed that she plans on having a "long" engagement to boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

The pair announced that they were engaged earlier this year as Cyrus looks to settle down with her actor boyfriend.

The 19-year-old told Marie Claire that "life is too short" not to be with the person that you love and that she feels the actual wedding is less important than the commitment behind the vow. She said:

"Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with. I don't really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we've made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement."

As previously reported, Miley Cyrus was recently the subject of a prank emergency call after an armed team of police officers turned up at her Hollywood house.
