Miley Cyrus gushes about VEVO record

Miley Cyrus has shared her excitement at breaking a VEVO record with the video for hit single 'We Can't Stop'.

As of Friday (July 26), the provocative promo has amassed more than 100 million views which breaks VEVO's record for the fastest time a video has reached the milestone play amount.

Pop songstress Cyrus took to Twitter to gush about the success of the much-talked-about clip which was released on June 19.

She wrote: "We got 100 million views?!?!?! Oh my god! We did it! We broke the vevo record! 100 million views in 37 days maaaafakkkkas!!!! Directors cut coming soon! (sic)."

Earlier in the day, Cyrus promised fans she would release a new version of the video once the record was beaten.

She wrote: "Directors cut is done. Ready to drop it once we got to 100 mill! (sic)."

Earlier this week it was revealed One Direction had broken the 24-hour record after their new music video for 'Best Song Ever' reached 12.3 million views in just one day.

A tweet sent from VEVO's official account on Thursday explained: "The New 24hr Record = 12.3 MILLION. Just….WOW. #Directioners ain't playin. #BSEVEVORECORD. @OneDirection views on http://VEVO.com, VEVO apps, Xbox, Roku, YouTube + added up to a WHOPPING 12.3M VIEWS in 24hrs! #BSEVEVORECORD (sic)."
