Teddy Bear charity slams Miley Cyrus's VMAs set: 'She made a poor choice by using bears'

Miley Cyrus's recent performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs stirred up controversy, but a cuddly teddy bear charity has now criticised her set for being in 'poor taste'.

The Teddy Bear Fund charity told gossip site TMZ that the former Disney starlet should really have been more mindful where using such classic symbols of innocence and childhood were concerned during her raunchy performance:

"Miley made a poor choice to use a universally loved children's teddy bear in an offensive way. There is always good art and bad art - unfortunately... this was bad art. Hopefully she might consider reversing this situation by giving lots of teddy bears to children in need of comfort."

Once the beauty finished treating the audience to a live rendition of her hit single 'We Can't Stop', she was joined on stage by Robin Thicke to perform his track, 'Blurred Lines'. Thicke's mother has since confessed that she thought their dancing was inappropriate:

"I just keep thinking of her mother and father watching this. Oh, Lord, have mercy. I was not expecting her to be putting her butt that close to my son. The problem is now I can never 'unsee' it. I don't understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do. I just don't understand. I think she's misbegotten in this attempt of hers. And I think it was not beneficial."
