Miley Cyrus blows One Direction's VEVO record out of the water with updated figure

'We Can't Stop' beauty Miley Cyrus has set a new and very impressive record with VEVO for the number of hits achieved in 24 hours.

She debuted her brand new music video for 'Wrecking Ball' last night (September 9) and it has racked up a phenomenal 19.3 million views in just one whole day.

VEVO confirmed the exciting news this evening by tweeting the results out: "The OFFICIAL count is in! @MileyCyrus #WreckingBall wrecks the #VEVO24HourRecord w/ 19.3 MILLION VIEWS!! Sorry for the delay #smilers. Takes a LONG time to count 19.3 MILLION VIEWS! Wow! @MileyCyrus #WreckingBall."

As a result of scoring this huge number, Cyrus has now taken back the record from One Direction who held it for their 'Best Song Ever' video after it earned 12.3 million views in 24 hours.

Cyrus took to her own Twitter account in the past few minutes and thanked her fans for their enthusiasm over the video, writing: "Y'all did went so above and beyond with wrecking ball :) I love you so much and thank you for breaking the vevo record!!!"
