Miley Cyrus scores her first No. 1 UK album with 'Bangerz'

Miley Cyrus has achieved her first ever chart topping UK album with her latest LP ‘Bangerz’ debuting at No. 1.

The American actress and singer has previously released three albums under her own name and another four soundtracks as her former Disney character Hannah Montana. Her last album ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ had been her highest charting record having reached No. 8 in 2010.

This week’s second highest new entry comes from London duo Chase & Status with their third album ‘Brand New Machine’ going straight in at No. 2.

‘Days Are Gone’ – last week’s No. 1 album – by Haim has now fallen four places to No. 5.

The rest of this week’s top five is completed by Arctic Monkeys up one place with ‘AM’ at No. 3 and ‘Mechanical Bull’ by Kings of Leon down one at No. 4.

Other new entries to this week’s album chart include former ‘X Factor’ contestant Lucy Spraggan with her major label debut ‘Join The Club’ at No. 7, Panic! At The Disco’s ‘Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die’ at No. 10, Prefab Sprout’s ‘Crimson/Red’ at No. 15, ‘The Paradigm Shift’ by Korn just behind at No. 16, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip’s ‘Repent Replenish Repeat’ at No. 22, The Fratellis' ‘We Need Machine’ at No. 26, Anna Calvi’s ‘One Breath’ at No. 32 and ‘Boy Cried Wolf’ by The Feeling at No. 32.
