Miley Cyrus has come second in the Associated Press Entertainer of the Year list.

A total of 70 US editors and news directors gave their thoughts on who was the most influential people in terms of showbiz and culture this year.

Cyrus, who released her new album 'Bangerz' this year and trailblazed her way through column inches with raunchy behaviour, came runner-up.

The accolade ultimately went to Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence.

Kristi Runyan of The Derrick and The News-Herald Newspapers in Oil City, Pennsylvania commented: "[Lawrence] is not only talented and beautiful, but comes off as incredibly intelligent, genuine, funny and well-spoken in her public appearances and interviews."

Justin Timberlake meanwhile came fifth in the Entertainer of the Year poll.
