Morrissey criticises both Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton

Morrissey has taken aim at both US Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton.

The singer took to his True To You fansite to opine about the apparent poor state of mainline American politics.

He said Democrat Clinton represents the "established elite", while Republican Trump is hate-filled.

The Brit wrote: "Hillary Clinton is the face and voice of pooled money. She will therefore repay the established elite with whatever they want if she is elected.

"Donald Thump is George Wallace – hating just about anyone who doesn’t happen to be Donald Thump. Surely this is not 2016 America?”

Morrissey showed support for Bernie Sanders, who was in a battle with Clinton to become the Democrats' candidate.

He also bemoaned Trump's response to the weekend's Orlando gay club shooting, in which 49 people died.

The singer said: "Donald Thump – probably America’s next President – reacts to the massacre by explaining how, if the people in the club were armed with guns, then there would have been fewer casualties. This, of course, is his own way of avoiding any words of support to the Orlando gay community.”
