Iconic band The Smiths have teamed up with animal rights organisation PETA to launch an arcade-style interactive game called "This Beautiful Creature Must Die", which was inspired by their song "Meat Is Murder".

Morrissey issued a statement on the news, which reads: "This game is the biggest social crusade of all, as we safeguard the weak and helpless from violent human aggression. You don't get that from Pokémon Go."

PETA's Vice President of Marketing Joel Bartlett added: "PETA's "This Beautiful Creature Must Die" has a fun, nostalgic vibe but also calls out animal agriculture as the biggest threat to human health, animals, and the environment today. After mastering the game, players can save animals and the Earth in real life by going vegan."

In the game, players have to save various farm animals including turkeys and cows, while avoiding falling bombs. The game is now available from PETA's official website for free.
