Morrissey cancels tonight's concert on doctors' orders

Tonight's concert at London's Brixton Academy has been shelved - the latest in a string of axed dates.

"Morrissey is on continued doctor's orders not to sing, to ensure a complete recuperation," a statement from concert organisers said.

They also apologised to fans, adding they were working to reschedule the cancelled dates.

Ticket holders have been advised to hang on to them and wait for further announcements.

Concerts in Salisbury and Mile End, east London, have already been called off this week.

The cancellations come days after the star returned to the stage to mark his 50th birthday.

During the homecoming gig in Manchester he appeared in good spirits, chatting to the audience and singing Smiths hits as well as his solo material.

Morrissey has cancelled a number of dates since his world tour kicked off in February and has already rescheduled dates for Birmingham's Symphony Hall and London's Royal Albert Hall for October.
