Morrissey cancels remaining South American live shows

Morrissey has cancelled the remaining tour dates he was due to play in South America.

The ‘Every Day Is Like Sunday’ singer issued an apology last week for already cancelling a number of dates in Peru and Chile due to food poisoning but remained optimistic that he would play further shows in Argentina and Brazil.

However he has now confirmed that all of his planned performances have been pulled.

In a statement via fan site True To You Morrissey explained:

“I am informed today that the projected tour of South America is snuffed out, thus euthanized - due, I'm reliably advised, to lack of funding.”

Morrissey also made reference to the various health issues he has already suffered with this year as he stated: “In a year when far too many disappointments have been buried this really is the last of many final straws, and I am not alone in feeling this.”

He also acknowledged the number of times he has had to say sorry to his fans for terminating engagements: “The future is suddenly absent, and my apologies are now so frequent as to be somewhat ridiculous, and it is I who apologize because no one else would bother.”

A concert promoter spoke out earlier this week saying that Morrissey’s ill-fated shows in Chile cost him $300,000.
