Morrissey's 'Autobiography' breaks sales record and tops book chart

Early predictions on the success of Morrissey’s autobiography have been proved correct as the singer's tome has shot to the top of book charts with record-breaking sales.

Titled ‘Autobiography’, the Manchester icon’s memoir has proved to be one of the fastest-selling chronicles since official book sale records began.

The ‘Suedehead’ crooner’s Penguin Classics-published book has enjoyed first week sales of 34,918 – outselling the previously fastest-selling music memoir, ‘Life’ by Rolling Stone Keith Richards.

‘Autobiography’ has also topped the UK bestseller list, pushing ‘Bridget Jones’ author Helen Fielding’s third novel, ‘Mad About The Boy’, into second place.

To promote the release of ‘Autobiography’ Morrissey appeared at a single book signing in Sweden on October 17.
