FUGA Signs Tommy Boy, Announces American Hub

  • Office to be based in New York City
  • 7digital Director of Marketing and Communications, Anna Siegel is first hire

17 October 2016: FUGA, the high-end technology partner for content owners and distributors, has signed a deal with legendary US label Tommy Boy Entertainment to provide digital distribution.

The agreement will see FUGA handling catalogue from artists including Afrika Bambaata, Ghostface Killah, Naughty by Nature and Method Man. It comes as FUGA finalises plans for an American hub.

Set to open in New York this year, the office will enable FUGA to offer localised operational support and marketing services to a growing customer base across The United States, Canada and Latin America, including longstanding clients such as Epitaph Records, Ultra Records and Curb Records. It will be managed by David Driessen, Director of Sales and Client Services, who is relocating from Europe to take up the role.

Driessen’s first hire is Anna Siegel, who joins to handle business development and client relations. Previously Director of Marketing and Communications at 7digital, where she led international strategy, and with over four years in international marketing and business development at independent label Putumayo World Music before that, Siegel is relishing the challenge of helping establish FUGA Americas. Driessen will continue to oversee FUGA’s global business development team, managing staff on the ground in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Singapore.

Said Rosie Lopez, President, Tommy Boy “It’s great to be working with FUGA, their high end technology will streamline delivery of our repertoire to digital providers across the globe.”

Pieter van Rijn, CEO, FUGA added: “We’re excited about Tommy Boy joining our tight knit family and honoured to be working with Tom, Rosie and their exceptional team.

Demand for FUGA’s technology and distribution services has guided our decision to set up a dedicated Americas hub, in the capable hands of one of our directors, Dave Driessen. Anna Siegel has fantastic experience and knowledge of the American market, and will be a great asset to that end.”

Tom Silverman, Founder, Tommy Boy, added: “It is increasingly important for independent record labels to remain competitive in this period of industry adjustment. FUGA is an important part of the operational setup Tommy Boy has developed to foster artist and catalogue growth.”

Benson Curb, Curb Records, concluded: “We’re thrilled with FUGA’s technology platform and services and are very happy about their increased American presence.”

Driessen and team will build on the foundation laid by Chad Tait, FUGA’s Business Development Representative for five years, who moves to artist services company 23/7 Global.
