- All The Little Lights passes week 12 on the UK album chart - rising one place to number 7

Essential Music & Marketing are today toasting the slowburn success of Passenger (aka British singer-songwriter Mike Rosenberg) whose All The Little Lights this week celebrates its twelfth week on the UK album chart. Rising to number seven on the UK chart, the album has now surpassed 60,000 sales.

Meanwhile, lead single from the album, Let Her Go, has this week passed the 250,000 sales mark - hitting silver status and climbing to number two in the UK Top 40.

Let Her Go has picked up almost unanimous support across UK national radio - already playlisted by Heart, Magic, Absolute Radio and Bauer Group the track was recently added to the A List at Radio 1 and Radio 2. The track has also racked up an astonishing 32m YouTube views.

After issuing five self-released albums, Rosenberg, who is managed by ie:music, signed a licensing deal with Nettwerk Records in June 2012.

Nettwerk agreed distribution for UK and Ireland with Essential in October 2012, and together helped propel Passenger to Irish chart success with the single reaching number one and the album number two in the IRMA Top 40. This was followed by well-received support slots with Ed Sheeran and an award for best Singer/Songwriter Album of 2012 from the UK iTunes Store, before the campaign shifted focus towards the UK.

With the single continuing to accumulate sales, Essential are hopeful it can replicate its number one success in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland.

For Stuart Meikle, Essential Music & Marketing’s Senior Project Manager, Passenger's UK success is the culmination of hard work by a number of partners.

He says: “The Passenger album is a real snapshot of the music business in 2013. This is an artist who has been self-releasing music since 2007, who has toured consistently and who has built his audience gradually. He is no overnight sensation.

“Liasing closely with Mike, his management, and with Nettwerk, Essential has worked tirelessly to get this album before a UK audience - building on Passenger’s tremendous successes in Ireland, on his gigs with Ed Sheeran and support from iTunes.  In many ways this is an old-fashioned success story based on hard work and some great music. Having 6 consecutive weeks sales increases and keeping the album in the top 10 the last 3 weeks is something that we are all immensely proud of. And with a TV advertising campaign to continue and a UK tour planned for autumn there’s still bags of potential left in this record.”
