Nicki Minaj on 'Anaconda' video: 'I think it's about what girls do'

Nicki Minaj has opened up on the inspiration behind her recent 'Anaconda' music video.

The promo clip gained a lot of interest online due to its racy content, with the rapper at one point giving Drake a lap dance.

Speaking to GQ in a new interview, Minaj said that she feels the video - which enjoys a main theme of twerking women - reflects what girls like to "do".

She said: "I think the video is about what girls do. Girls love being with other girls, and when you go back to us being younger, we would have slumber parties and we’d be dancing with our friends."

Talking meanwhile about the much-parodied cover art for 'Anaconda' - which sees a scantily clad Minaj squatting - the former American Idol judge said:

"I just said I'll put it out, never thought in a billion years that people would be putting [other] people's heads on it. It's the craziest sh*t."
