Nicki Minaj's remix a fake
It seemed too good to be true, and it was: the apparent Nicki Minaj remix of Willow Smith’s 'Whip My Hair' is not real.
The track, which found its way online this week, already has upwards of 30,000 hits on YouTube, but eagle-eared bloggers soon noticed Minaj’s contribution sounded familiar. It turns out her verse was taken from a 2009 collaboration with R ‘n’ B artist Pearl Future.
Nine-year-old Willow, the daughter of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, is signed to Roc Nation records and is personally endorsed by Jay-Z, who has said she’s a “superstar”.
The video for 'Whip My Hair' was filmed in September and is expected to be released later this month.
