Nicki Minaj expresses disappointment at M.I.A's Super Bowl gesture

Nicki Minaj has criticised M.I.A's middle-fingered gesture at last weekend's Super Bowl (February 5).

The pair were special guests of Madonna during the half-time performance, but M.I.A courted controversy by seemingly pointing her middle finger at the camera.

Madonna herself has already criticised the gesture, calling it "irrelevant" - and now Minaj has said her say too.

Speaking on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, the exuberant singer felt that the action was disrespectful to Madonna. She said:

"My first feeling was disappointment, only because of my respect for Madonna. I'm a cuckoo lady too, but I would never be able to do it off the strength of Madonna. There are fines that go into these things, and I just thought, 'Oh my God. I hope they don't penalise Madonna'. She's done some crazy things becoming the icon that she is, so I think that's why she was able to forgive MIA."
