Nicki Minaj has been announced to perform at the upcoming MTV VMAs.

The awards ceremony takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles tomorrow night (September 6).

A number of acts had previously been announced, with pop icons One Direction one of the first names on the bill.

MTV have now confirmed that Nicki Minaj will play the event with a special guest.

It has also been announced that Rihanna, who had already been scheduled to perform, will sing alongside A$AP Rocky for a rendition of their remix of her track 'Cockiness'.

Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz have also been added to the star-studded line-up.
