Nicole Scherzinger to appear in Cats musical

Nicole Scherzinger has landed a part in the iconic musical Cats.

The singer will play the role Grizabella in the West End production in London from December 6.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber show, which is based on TS Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, is returning for a 12-week stint.

Scherzinger commented: "I am really thrilled to be making my West End debut in such an iconic show. I grew up listening to Andrew's extraordinary music and was lucky enough, a couple of years ago, to record Cats' beautiful song 'Memory'."

"Andrew's score is breathtaking and I am truly honoured to have been asked to take part in what I know will be a very special time in my career. I can't wait to begin rehearsals."

Scherzinger sang the title song of Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Variety Performance in 2011.

The former X Factor USA has also performed 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' from Evita live.
