Nicole Scherzinger: 'I used to be a goth'

'Poison' hitmaker Nicole Scherzinger has admitted that she would have been 'Goth Spice' when she was younger as she often wore black and loved listening to rock music.

During a new interview with Notion magazine, the brunette beauty explained that if she had been a member of the Spice Girls, she probably would have been the alternative one because that's how she dressed before she rose to fame: "I was so theatre at the time I was like, 'I am not going to be a Spice Girl'. That is just not me."

She originally auditioned for Popstars, which she won as part of the girl group Eden's Crush, but revealed that she was reluctant to change her image to fit the stereotype:

"I mean I'm a Spice Girls fan now, but at the time I only wore black and I was Goth. I would have been Goth Spice. Ethnic Chanting Spice, that's who I thought I was."

Referring to her audition for the TV vocal talent show, Scherzinger added: "I brought my little package that I'd put together with my pictures and I'd made my own home music video. I was on it. I gave them my package and I sang [Whitney Houston's 'I Will Always Love You'] for them and the rest is history. That brought me to Los Angeles."
