Nicole Scherzinger has opened up on her childhood and revealed she came from a "conservative background".

The singer has become a glamorous lady in her adult years, but it seems her youth wasn't quite so flashy.

Scherzinger told OK! magazine that her mother didn't allow her to shave her legs, causing her to suffer embarrassment. The singer said:

"I came from a conservative background, I didn't wear lots of make-up at a young age. My mom made me have hairy freaking legs forever!"

The X Factor UK judge added: "She didn't let me shave, it was so embarrassing. I said, 'I'm not going to do this to my kid,' but I probably will do the same thing to my kid!"

Reports meanwhile have emanated today that Scherzinger is "torn" over whether to return as a judge to the X Factor, but no official comment has been made.
