Olly Murs' excitement at his BRIT nomination

Olly Murs, the runner up from season 6 of X Factor, has spoken out about his surprise and thankfulness for the BRIT award nomination he achieved last night (January 13).

The singer-songwriter from Essex is in the running to win the BRIT for British Single with 'Please Don't Let Me Go', but he's up against some tough competition from 'Dynamite' by Taio Cruz and Tinie Tempah's number 1 single 'Pass Out'.

In an interview with The Sun, Murs explained:

"Last year, I was on the X Factor tour [and] we watched JLS win 'Best Single' and it was incredible to see. To have my name on the nominations list is amazing."

"I'm proud because I wrote the song. I'm getting taken more seriously because I wrote 10 of the 12 tracks on my debut album."

Murs is looking forward to attending the ceremony on February 15, and added:

I'll be jumping around, drinking champagne and making a fool of myself!"
