Olly Murs taking strength from One Direction's US success

Olly Murs has admitted that he hopes the success of One Direction and The Wanted in America means he might hit it big there too.

The former X Factor contestant is due to support One Direction on tour in America from May onwards and the Belfast Telegraph quotes Murs as saying that he hopes their success with make it easier for him to make an impact too.

He said: "It's been crazy but it's been great. Both 1D and The Wanted have done so well in Europe and in America."

Murs continued: "It's not easy for boybands to do well over there so the fact that they have is great. A lot of boybands have struggled in the past, but they haven't so fingers crossed I can go over there and hopefully do all right."

He concluded: "I'm going over there to showcase me as an artist and try to build a fanbase. Regardless of what happens, I don't have any high expectations."
