Olly Murs set to land No.1 UK chart doubles

Xtra Factor presenter and singer Olly Murs is on course to score the UK's No.1 single and album after he secured both top spots during today's (November 28) midweek chart update.

The cheeky hitmaker shot in at No.1 with his new album 'Right Place Right Time' this afternoon and according to The Official Charts Company it is outselling One Direction's 'Take Me Home', which is at No.2, by 2 copies to 1.

He also remains at No.1 on the singles chart with 'Troublemaker' although it faces competition from Bruno Mars with 'Locked Out Of Heaven', which has shot up 7 places to No.2.

If Murs manages to hold on to the positions, it will be the fourth UK Top 40 chart doubles situation of 2012 and other acts to have already achieved the impressive feat this year include Gary Barlow, One Direction and Robbie Williams.

Elsewhere on the singles chart, Ke$ha's anthemic new offering 'Die Young' has entered at 11, Christmas classic 'Fairytale Of New York' by The Pogues has appeared at 38 and Girls Aloud's 'Something New' has dropped 12 to No.14.
