Olly Murs: "Adele is inspirational star"

Cheeky charmer Olly Murs wants to connect with audiences the same way Adele has with her powerful love songs.

The British singer is hoping to crack the notoriously tough US market, but knows he needs more than catchy tunes to do so successfully.

Murs has taken inspiration from stars who have been able to connect on a personal level with their fans.

He told phillyburbs.com: “I think it helps if you have a strong way about you. That’s what I have and I want to connect with the American audience. Michael Bublé is great at connecting with the audience. Watch how he does it.

He added: “I’ve seen footage of how James Brown and Frank Sinatra have done it. They were great showmen. I want to be able to connect with the audience and do as well as I can. Look what Adele has done.”

Murs is a fan of love songs because the words are universal.

He explained:  “I don’t know how love songs could ever go out of style. That’s something everyone can relate to, whether you’re in love or out of love. You can connect with that. At least that’s what I’ll try to do.”
