Olly Murs: "One Direction deserve their US success"

Olly Murs has praised One Direction and believes their success in the States is just what they deserve.

The British boyband made a splash across the pond last year as they took the US by storm, hitting No.1 in the album chart.

Speaking to MTV, Murs - who supported the band last year in America - acknowledged the One Direction success story, but admitted his rise to fame in the US will be more gradual. He said:

"Oh God, I mean what they've done and achieved, they're just an incredible boyband. A little success in America would be amazing for me, a top five or ten song would be a massive jump for me, a massive boost, it's great over there, you need results."

He continued: "For One Direction, the results were instant and instant success and they deserve every single bit of it. If you think about the level that they're at in America you want to achieve that, but for me I want to start over there slowly and just take my time really. That's what we’re doing over there, starting from scratch, it's odd having to start from scratch in the States because of my fan base over here but I'm enjoying it, it's good fun, going into a room with fifty fans there, all seeing you for the first time, it's nice."
