@KingCo915 King Co Interview

CHECK OUT THE INTERVIEW BELOW WE DID WITH KING CO FROM TEXAS!

1. King Co, how long have you been doing American music and what does music mean to you? I have been doing music seriously since I was 2006. Rappin and doin poetry since I was 12

2. King Co, you are from El Paso Texas but live in Houston right now. What part do you play in both music scenes and what was the biggest thing you learned in life, living in both places? In El Paso I am considered El Paso first Major Artists. Anytime major artists come through the city I would be the one to get the nod for the open or co-headline act. I left El Paso about 4 years ago in hopes of crossing over to a major market. I get love in Houston with a growing fan base. I recently released a mixtape with OG Ron C (formerly of Swisha House now OVO DJ and Chopstars) Continuing to grow the buzz all over Texas though.

3. King Co, you just dropped a single called "Red Light Green Light." What is the concept behind this record and how did this record come about? Well this single I feel was one of the more global appealing records I was sitting on. The concept of this record was just to get on a track and have a good time. The upcoming super producer Swiffy Beats, shot me the beat to do a live freestyle to and I just started coming with outrageous bars. Then I realized this record might be something. I didnt want to put it in a genre just wanted to spazz on a track and introduce this 'spazz flow' I have patented cuz thats its roots. I wanted to make sure all you could say is that the track is 'DOPE' whether youre a backpacker or a gangster.

4. King Co, what do you feel "Red Light Green Light' brings different to the music world? I'm working on the video for it now and I want it to be sheer entertainment! I feel everybody wants to ride a certain wave but with so many styles I showcase alot of these waves at once. The music world can feel like you getting a break of the new norm with a touch of classic. then the kids could jam it out too. Its a record that encourages taking from it what you want!

5. King Co, what is the hardest thing in life you had to overcome and how did you overcome it? The hardest thing in life I had to overcome was probably between growth as an indie artist in the music business and leaving the streets. I made so much money so easily illegally in my early 20's it was tough telling myself "you're done, now go legit and make music money!" The Flipside of that is in the music industry on EVERY level is just foul you gotta learn to be a shark! So overcoming these everyday hurdles, learning the business and assembling my team is an everyday challenge. To be having my own tour in the works is only by the grace of God.

6. King Co, how important is lyrics when creating a song like "Red Light Green Light."? I mean the lyrics to me are everything. The song has an introduction of this lone star state I rep to just flexin' a bunch of witty catchy punchlines. That is why I dropped the lyric video so people can catch up. I want you to hear this and say "how did you think of that line??" Thats what hip hop is.

7. King Co, you have an EP coming out called "The W.I.L.L."! Whats is the concept behind this project and how long did it take you to do it? W.I.L.L. is a double meaning. One is exactly what it sounds. Here is my WILL if I left I felt these records would be where I had the most fun and didnt care what anybody thought of em. They will be dope of course. And the other is a short for an uncompleted phrase "Where in lost love..." Basically saying when you lose love you may find something else. Me personally I felt for a good year like I was not going to succeed because the majority of my fans were regional mostly local. Solid fanbase but I wanted more. I felt I should be even more Major. Then it hit me that I have been making money off music for years now. I have worked with gold and platinum producers. I have got nods from many artists and I have TRILL fans. YOU ALREADY MADE IT! It reminded me to be grateful and keep working hard but realize so many artists would love to make it as far as I have.

8. King Co, where do you see your brand and career in the next 5 years? Honestly in 5 years I should be more behind the scenes. I act now and probably will venture more into that. Im out my 20's now so I will go hard for at least 2 or 3 major albums, one world tour or 2 then open the door for more of these upcoming artists in my circle from Texas.
