B-Light Interview and Music Video @imustblight

Tell us about yourself and your music? I would say that my music is an extension of myself and an interpretation of the world around me. I am a holistically positive and open minded person. A common trend in my music is that it is either going to : 1. Educate you about something going on in the world,or 2. Be something you can relate to whether it be a feeling or a situation. The most important thing that it shall stress is positivity. I feel like there is too much negative music in the world and that is a problem to me. I really choose to shy away from giving my music a genre but rather I always plan on imbuing hope in my songs whether it is a hip-hop song , rock song or club song.

How would you describe your sound? I have a very eclectic sound that is really hard to pinpoint. Overall I would describe it as positivity. Yeah, I know it sounds weird , but I would describe my sound as positivity. With me you truly never know what you're going to get. You can either get a heartfelt emotional song that elicits empathy, a conscious song about certain issues that I feel should have light shined upon them or even a club song for de-stressing  purposes. The key is that the releases will have a positive message for you to take home.

Talk about the experience making your single? The experience with making my single was a very enjoyable one. This song actually came out of a jam session I was randomly having with my guitarist. It was magic. It came completely out of improvisation and freestyling. There is a certain moment in music where everything just fits perfectly.it doesn't happen every time but when it does, it's nothing short than a miracle from God. I would say that most of my best work comes about that way.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows? I'm currently working in two joint projects with a few hip hop artists. These projects are going to be real gems. Aside from that, I'm releasing my next single "How I feel" and another follow up single immediately after. But the choices are endless, I have so many choices between music I can choose to share with the fans that I can barely for them to hear it. I will be setting up a few shows that I will be letting people know about. Generally, these shows will be in the New York City area. These shows are still to be determined though.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far? I would say that my biggest highlight would have been going on to perform at the Whiskey A GoGo on Hollywood boulevard in Los Angelos a few years ago. The experience was amazing and the fans were great.  I know that I will be there again to perform at the venue but it was truly a blessing to be afforded that experience.  Especially as an indie, self funded artist.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)? Hmmm artist I would love to collab with include Ed Sheeran and B.O.B.

Name something random that people do not know about you? I would say that most people/fans don't know that I am actually a full time working nurse.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry? I have learned that it is very rewarding. It is a tough scene navigate but you will find that if your music is undeniable and you're hard working everything thing else comes with it. The fans, the love and the support is so real and it is truly something that keeps me going.

What can we expect from you in the future? Definitely a lot more singles and music videos. I have nothing less than great, relatable positive music in store for everyone. My aim is to make music that everyone enjoys. Just keep on the look out for the name B-Light, you heard it here first.
