J CooL – Interview and Stay Consistent Music Video @ThePurplePrince

Tell us about yourself and your music? My name is J-CooL aka The Purple Prince, 31 years old, and I am artist from Valdosta, Ga but currently live in Panama City, Fla & have been for the past 12 years.

I have many adolescent musical influences in my music vast from The Hot Boys to No Doubt to Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg & Master P & Tupac!  My music is a representation of my struggle with a recollection of my thoughts with the things i have endured & overcome.

My delivery i would describe it as always confident!

How would you describe your sound? My sound is unique & melodic with strong catchy flows but gritty lyrics beneath the surface.  My genre is Rap / Hip Hop but in my early years i was molded by smooth R&B plus a little alternative music because of my mother so that helps towards my musical genius with how i construct it.

Talk about the experience making your single? Making my single was completely unplanned because i went out on a limb since my producer (@FourtuneAve) did not give me permission to use the track at first lol.  I have lately been taking a freestyle non written approach for most of my recent songs & this was one of them well the first part was freestyled, broken down in a bar for bar punch in strategy then the second verse was written to explore the flow i created in the first verse with a more in depth lyrical content.  But once the song was finalized i was very confident & pleased with what i created since it was all unplanned but the song "Stay Consistent" has evolved into the title of my latest album / mixtape.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows? Right now I just finished my latest mixtape / album with all original production "Stay Consistent", and it is due out early Summer.  I have decided to name my project after my lead single "Stay Consistent" so it would stand out more.  This project is first project full playlist i have released in 3 years and i am really excited about it so with that being said the stakes are higher & i plan on displaying my progression over the years with this project that will be my 10th mixtape to date but its more like an album since it has all original beats & it will be sold on itunes, etc.  As for shows i am booking shows monthly for various open mics & festivals all over the south .  I also plan on touring in the near future to spread my "Purple Prince Movement Stay Consistent" to more areas i have not traveled plus overseas.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far? The biggest highlight of my career i would say have to say filming & releasing my music video "Stay Consistent" on worldstar because it was on a professional platform that has the quality to compete with any mainstream artist in hip hop t

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)? My ideal collaboration would be with Bankroll Fresh (#LongLiveFresh) but he was killed last year so thats not possible or maybe who knows.  I feel that we were alike in some ways & i took a liking to his music.  As for a mainstream artist i would like to work with T.I. because of what he has done for the hip hop genre & i am also a fan.

Name something random that people do not know about you? I really am a Chef & i have my own catering business, thus that is why i am in the kitchen in my music video "Stay Consistent" teaching the ladies baking 101!

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry? I learned that nobody else can put you on, you have to put yourself on!

What can we expect from you in the future? You can expect more from J-CooL, "Mr. Stay Consistent is here to STAY!!"
