Tell us about yourself and your music?
I'm Smitt a.k.a K.Smitt a.k.a NYSmitt a.k.a Real Talk of New York a.k.a the new school LL Cool J. I'm from South Side Jamaica Queens, New York. Currently a services member in the army. I am a hip hop artist sometimes I dabble in the r&b realm. I just released a single off of my debut ep album which is also named "NYS". About my music I would call it real. I'm the type of artist that express myself through my music. So it's like me opening up and bare my soul to my fans so they can really get to know me.

How would you describe your sound?
My sound is that New York 90's feel. I feel that was the best time in hip hop because not only did you have a amazing beat you had artist that were lyrical. They told stories. I feel that's what I'm bringing back. The story telling element in hip hop that has been forgotten. Now I am also a ladies man so I do cater to woman. My sound is very versatile I can get hood with you, I can get loving with you, I can make you cry, and I can give you knowledge. Making a fan think is a reward because what you are doing is molding a mind. I like to do that in a positive way.

Talk about the experience making your single?
Man, this single. I swear I gave it my all. I hope everyone enjoys it. When it came down to making this song it was honestly out of pure luck. I had my track list for my album already but I didn't have a New York song. I was debating with myself if I even wanted to do a New York song because I done so many in the past and everybody from New York makes a New York song. So I juggled with idea for a few days. I finally decided I would do one but it had to be right. From the lyrics to the beat. It had to be right. I went on SoundClick and started looking at all different beats. Nothing worked. I decided to do a search and I put in New York. A lot of producers popped up with beats being named New York. I came across black chalk productions. I played the beat once that first piano note hit I was hooked. I contacted him and brought the rights to the beat. I barely wrote to that song I freestyle'd a good 85% of the song. Everything I said flowed. I looked back at my life growing up in New York and this is what came out. I feel like this New York song is different from the rest. NYS is in its own category when it comes to a New York anthem. I mean that's just how I feel.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
I currently working on my next single called "freak you Right" featuring g baby from Newark New Jersey. Right now we are just trying to get everything together for song. The song has been already mastered. Just trying to get things put together for a music video. The idea I have is crazy. So trying to put that together while still promoting NYS as much as I can. No upcoming shows yet. I should have shows coming up in September, but as of right now my focus is on this single and getting things prepared for the next single.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
I have multiple highlights in my music career. One was that I was featured in XXL magazine. This was around the time Nicki and Drake was starting to blow up so at that time I felt I was on the right path. Next would be being apart of the us army soldier show. It's a broadway type of production that the army use to do. We would travel around the world and perform for soldiers and their families. I would say my last high is this moment this love I'm receiving for this single. So many doors are opening up and I still can't believe it. I'm still grinding I'm not there yet but love I'm getting let's me now I'm doing the right thing.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)?
My ideal collaboration would be with honestly 50 cent. Both queens natives. Both brought up in South Side Jamaica Queens. So that would be like the best feeling in the world. I would love to work with Jay z or Nas... like I look up to these guys not just cause of music but because how they run their business. Last I would I'm going to say this free Tsu Surf. He's a battle rapper from jersey that is dope and I have his music. His music is top notch as a independent artist. I would definitely want to collaborate with Tsu Surf.

Name something random that people do not know about you?
Hmmm something random people don't know about me. That's a good one because I bare my all in my music from my heartbreaks to my lows to highs. That's a tough question. Oh I got one. I'm a Uber driver lol. Yes I Uber drive. I'm a hustler so anyway I can make money I will do.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
Everything cost. You have to spend money to make money. Doing everything on my own isn't easy. It's tough you have to keep up your grind and keep being out there in the public to stay relevant but that all comes with a cost. The cost I'm talking about is money. So I am hoping people are really out supporting me by buying this single. Without the support of the people I can't really do much feel me.

What can we expect from you in the future?
Man if things keep going the way it's going you can expect a lot. Hopefully get this next single on track for a music video. Get things set up to release the actual EP album and then start working on the next project. I'm out here working. That's all I can say I love what I do I love music and I hope the people love me and my music too.
