KAP KALLOUS INTERVIEW

Tell us about yourself and your music?
Born and raised in Broward County South Florida where most of the messed up and strange news comes out of lately I definitely got an interesting dose of reality growing up. I’d say this experiences between there and Orlando Florida definitely gave me an arsenal of inspiration for my earlier music. I wouldn’t say I have a style but more so a mood; my music tends to be animated with dark undertones that deal within real life situations.

How would you describe your sound?
I’m constantly seeking out producers to connect with and push my sound. My favorite part of creating is finding the “sound” of an album and really locking in on that emotion; I love concepts so the sounds and production always need to match the vibe of whatever project I’m working on. The Kap Kallous sound is usually placed somewhere between dark and cinematic considering we try to approach our albums like a film.

Talk about the experience making your single?
Well KALLOUSTEIN the single and the album was produced by KHOMPONO an incredibly talented artist out of Hawaii. We linked up at random studios before through mutual friends but this song was the first song song we made together and it ended being the vibe and title of the whole project. It’s got this ultra creepy bounce that’s super infectious I couldn’t help but put a creative flow on it. After that the album was a breeze to make

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
Currently promoting the three projects I dropped this year, most importantly KALLOUSTEIN but I also have a colobative project with Lia Mack in the works( she’s featured all over my recent releases and is an extremely talented singer/rapper from Flint Michigan). Just rocked my First overseas show to a sold out crowd in Amsterdam with Talib Kweli and Niko Is so I definitely have the itch to get back on the road at the beginning I f the year.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
Honestly overcoming some personal obstacles and while releasing three albums this year was a feat in itself but I’d probably say one of my extensive tours I did with ¡MayDay! throughout the US going state to state and getting love from crowds every night will always be the ultimate highlight.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)?
Wow that’s he’s but I’d have to say Kid Cudi one Post Malone; preferably together hahah that’s be insane. Producer wise definitely Pharrell or Rick Ruben.

Name something random that people do not know about you?
I’m doing this interview from the back of a taxi on my way to the Athens airport so I can fly to Italy!

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
Don’t share too much! People are always watching/listening and so many incredible artists accidentally lend their styles to people.

What can we expect from you in the future?
More music, more touring, and lots of dope gear( I’m about to open an online store)
