JAYO EP & INTERVIEW

Tell us about yourself and your music?
Well, I’m just a young optimist and my music is a reflection of that. There’s a positive contagious vibe that lets people sing along. My music is easy to digest so anybody can listen to it.

How would you describe your sound?
I would say smooth drive music. Too R&b to be pop and too Pop to be r&b.

Talk about the experience of making your EP?
Creating this EP was fun, I wanted to show more of my writing ability as well as musical taste. My music is a combination of the music I listen to on a regular basis. I’m heavily involved in the production process as well, even though I don’t produce I like to input and control what’s happening to the music.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
I’m always working on new songs. Hoping to come out with at least 2 more singles this year. Also planning on some shows this summer/year.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
The biggest highlight of my music career has been my release party. Hosted by power 106 DJ and MC, it was a really fun event and great turn out. Yea I could have mentioned working with great Grammy winning producers as my highlights or many other thing, but I think it was really cool to see how many people showed love and came to the event.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)?
I honestly have a list of people I would love to collab with and at the top are Chance the rapper, Justin Bieber, or Khalid. Down the list are frank ocean, Ed Sheeran, Allesia Cara, KYLE, Ariana Grande, Jorja Smith, Ella Mai and a few more.

Name something random that people do not know about you?
Most people don’t know I’m a twin. He’s not musical but he is an animator. He actually animated the graphics for this EP. RJ drew them but my brother Jude animated them.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
I’ve learned many things but definitely learning that you gotta invest in yourself. That’s critical, but just as critical is having a team. I wouldn’t be where I’m at if it weren’t for the people around me helping me. Just because you CAN do everything by yourself does not mean you SHOULD do everything by yourself. A lot of people don’t get that. I just like to shine at what I’m best at and let others shine at what their best at. A team will always take you further than working on your own.

What can we expect from you in the future?
You can expect more music for sure. Shows coming soon. More content and hopefully more interviews, i enjoyed this one.
