Tell us about yourself and your music?

Thank you for having me! I was born in France and my first instrument was piano, I started lessons when I was six years old and quickly grew to love classical music and film scores. I grew up in London, Johannesburg, and Brussels before coming to the US to continue my music career.

My music draws from my endeavors as arranger for K-Pop artists BEN and Eyedi, and as founding member of the award winning Electronic Rock band People the Kangaroo. I studied at Berklee College of Music for a while and was also an active orchestral jazz composer throughout my time in Boston.

How would you describe your sound?

I think of my sound as a blend of electronic music and Indie R&B! I definitely channel my jazz and classical music influences in the layering of the compositions, but I use modern R&B sounds and vocal production techniques.

Talk about the experience making your single?

Making “Up and Away” was an incredible experience from start to finish. It was a mix of introspection bringing melancholic vibes in the music and a super exciting collaborative effort.

Working with Mayila, who is a hugely talented singer and writer, was key. I honed in on the composition and the groove before reaching out to her about the single. Once I heard the groove and structure come together, this was a turning point in the creative process. The second one was adding Mayila’s voice to the song. At that point the record was really coming together and I focused on completing the structure and sound design for the single. Working with Martin Nessi and Camilo Silva F was also an amazing process. They are incredible engineers and took the record to the finish line.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?

“Up and Away” kicks off a series of releases planned in 2020, which includes stylistically varied collaborations with exciting talent.
You can definitely expect more music and visuals this year!

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?

There are many moments to look back on fondly! Opening for Los Rabanes in New York, winning a GoPro award for People The Kangaroo’s “You Would Not Believe Me” Music Video, and being with French artist Patrick Bruel in the studio are some of them. Releasing “Up and Away” is also really exciting for me because the song feels like the best representation of who I currently am musically.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)?

I would love to work with Noah Slee, a captivating indie Berlin-based R&B/Soul artist. He’s been a huge inspiration for me this past year, and his entire discography is immaculate.

Name something random that people do not know about you?

I’m an avid podcast listener! My selection ranges from in-depth analysis of my favorite books and TV shows to long-form interviews of experts on various subjects.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
One of the biggest takeaways from my career so far, is that today is the best time to be independent. From recording to distribution, marketing and touring, artists now have access to highly powerful tools to focus on finding their audience and building an authentic rapport with listeners.

What can we expect from you in the future?

You can definitely expect more music! I am devoted to developing the sound I’ve introduced in “Up and Away”, and getting ready for another release before the summer.
