Global Dance duo Orbital played at Global Gathering last night at Long Marston Airfield in Stratford Upon Avon. 

One half of the outfit, Paul Hartnoll, spoke to us before their slot, and said they take a pretty loose approach on stage.

“Sometimes it feels like plate spinning. You’ve got so many things on the go, every component of the track is free running. You can choose to bring stuff in and out whenever you want, and rewrite the track on stage,” he said.

Orbital – Hartnoll brothers Phil and Paul – split in 2004 after performing at Glastonbury’s Other Stage. Newly reformed and playing a string of summer festivals, Paul told 6 Music he doesn't regret the break they had - it's enhanced what they do on the live side now. “I think stopping was the best thing we ever did. It's all fresh and exciting again. The absence of playing all those songs really did bring them back – I really missed them… but after 15 years I was ready for a break.”

The duo will also play some of their own shows this September in Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester and London.
