Ozzy Osbourne will be honoured at this year's MTV EMAs with the Global Icon Award.

The Black Sabbath singer will pick up the gong at the event on November 9 at Glasgow's Hydro arena, which will be hosted by Nicki Minaj.

The prize will pay tribute to the singer's contribution to music over his lengthy career, which began in the late 1960s.

Black Sabbath's 2013 album '13' - their first with Osbourne since 1978 - reached No.1 in the UK and the US.

The Global Icon Award meanwhile has been given out at EMA ceremonies since 2010.

Bon Jovi collected the first prize, with Queen, Whitney Houston and Eminem pocketing the subsequent awards.
