Far Wider releases new soulful pop anthem ‘Wise Girls’OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY Plus Music PR Far Wider are back with their second release of 2024 ‘Wise Girls’ as they aim to cement themselves as a boundary pushing creative force. The reaction to ‘Wise Girls’ has already caused over one hundred new Facebook followers a day to join Far Wider’s fan base since word about the new single got around. The band has its roots in UK rock and soul bands but now they also hook up online with musicians from all over (“from Malta to Massachusetts, York to Yonkers” as they like to say!) So they’re more of a collective than your average band. With access to that wide range of talent, Far Wider spin a web of sound that feels as vibrant as it does irresistible. ‘Wise Girls’ is an ironic ode to romance, covering the highs and lows of a woman in a man’s world and challenging stereotypes with a feminist twist. The track employs a whole host of quick hooks, riffs and melodies as it touches four corners of the creative spectrum. The single sits somewhere at the crossroads of pop, rock, soul and jazz as Far Wider cement themselves as a creative outlet with a difference. Swirling guitars and silky basslines come punctuated by heady trumpets to give the record its feel-good but satirical edge. Speaking about the creative process behind the track, the group references many of the groundbreaking artists that have come before them. They explain, “We just love left-field songs and singers! Beth Hart, Amy Winehouse, KD Lang, Florence & The Machine - and the whole history of wonderful stuff before them! We love singers and writers mixing up genres - Nina Simone, Janis Joplin, Annie Lennox, Tina Turner - and that’s just the women! Great singers, Great songs. That’s what inspires us.” Lead songwriter Andy Wilson dives deeper into what prompted him to write the track, “I remember listening back to Almost Cut My Hair (that old hippy track from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) and loving the idea that a guy could change his whole life if he trimmed his flowing locks! So Wise Girls HAD to start with ‘Almost broke a nail’. (Maybe satire isn’t dead after all…) AboutFar Wider is fronted by lead singer Geneva who is also known for her EDM hit ‘Glowing In The Dark’ and for her rebellious time on X-Factor (which was immortalised on TV!). Perhaps influenced by Far Wider’s international vibe Geneva has recently moved to Malta where she also fronts the locally famous big band Brass House Unit!
