Jei-Rynn unveils latest alt-rock anthem ‘never dying young’

Following on from the release of ‘maybe?’, Jei-Rynn is showing no signs of slowing down as he brings his latest anthem to the limelight. Providing a cathartic blend of pop-punk with a raspy, grungey spirit, he unleashes the single ‘never dying young’.

Kicking off with a sticky pop vocal, the track leans into a retrospective teenage rebellion with its distorted guitar lines and unforgiving drum beats. Encapsulating change through a coming-of-age lens, ‘never dying young’ speaks to the grief surrounding letting go of our teenage years. Pop-esque melodies give the single an uplifting edge, pushing forward with the single’s sing-a-long refrains and authentic lyricism.

“‘Never dying young’ is about letting go of teenage fantasies and mourning the loss of your younger self. I was also writing about the parts of myself that haven’t changed at all over the years; the parts of myself that are still so childish that seem core to my inner world, for better and for worse. A lot of artists have a lot of yearning in their souls I think, and I’m no exception. I think the song captures this as well in a weird way. Like the other songs from the EP, the song was recorded with producer Alex Newport (Mars Volta, Bloc Party, At the Drive In) at his studio in the deserts of Yucca Valley.”

Born in Orange County, California, Jei-Rynn is a singer-songwriter who feels reignited by the golden era of grunge, pop punk and everything in between. Since first getting piano lessons at the age of nine, Jei-Rynn’s musical palette was only going to grow as he started to further his curiosity by picking up a guitar and writing his own songs. Despite suffering from anxiety and periods of depression in his youth, he turned to music making as a lifeline - using his creativity as a pipeline for self-expression and exploration.

Debuting as a solo artist in 2019, he released his single ‘screaming inside’ to quick critical acclaim on the underground, telling tales of isolation and identity crisis as an Asian-American in an era of Asian-hate. Over his colourful career so far, Jei-Rynn has made waves with the string of emphatic releases that have followed him. Working with a whole host of producers, including Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Bloc Party), Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount (Mayday Parade, Cartel), his releases have been featured on international radio stations with the StoneBridge remix of ‘bloodsuckers’ peaking at No. 10 on the UK Commercial Pop Chart. Complete with a dynamic live show, he has shared the stage with the likes of Lil Xan, Tommy Vext (of Bad Wolves fame) and Love Ghost. Charging ahead with new music on the horizon, Jei-Rynn looks to further cement his reputation as one of the fastest-growing artists in his game
