Kanye West wows SNL

Kanye West blew away past musical guests on ‘Saturday Night Live’ this weekend.

Big names have included U2, The Rolling Stones, Abba, Bob Dylan, Jay-Z and Nirvana. You name ‘em, they’ve guested on the show.

Most of those names seem to appear on the show’s standard mock-Grand Central Station set, but not Kanye. He had his own all-white extravaganza for the two songs he performed, ‘Power’ and ‘Runaway’, while himself sporting a red suit, gold chains and, for good measure, a gold crown. Plus ballerinas and dancers galore.

West also ate a little humble pie. In one of the two songs so far released from his new album, ‘Power’, he includes the line: “F--- 'SNL' and the whole cast.” Naturally, he did not include the line on the show. But he did tweet Monday that his long-awaited new album will drop on November 22.

That date is a Monday, a day earlier than the usual Tuesday US album release date but perhaps West is hoping to get a jump on other big names releases out that week including Nicki Minaj's 'Pink Friday', My Chemical Romance's 'Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys', Flo Rida's 'The Only One' and Daft Punk’s ‘Tron Legacy’ soundtrack.
