Juliette Lewis in L.A. car crash

Juliette Lewis should have been celebrating the release of both her new video for ‘Terra Incognita’ and her latest film 'Conviction' (also starring Hilary Swank) on Wednesday (October 6) evening in LA.

Instead, she found herself in hospital after a driver ran a red light and crashed into the car she was a passenger in.

Lewis reported pain in her head, back and neck, and was taken to hospital. She was later released. The car she was in was reportedly a write-off.

Just before the accident, Lewis Tweeted her excitement about her new 'Terra Icognita' video premiering on AOL. She said: “Can u tell I'm excited? And for those who thought I "went too soft" on Uh Huh this is for u!”.

Her rep told TMZ: "[Juliette] went to the hospital to be checked out and is a bit banged up and sore but otherwise thankfully okay. She is now resting at home."

The driver of the other car abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene but a local law enforcement spokesman said the driver will be arrested on suspicion of a felony hit and run.

Lewis can be seen starring in 'The Switch' opposite Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston, and will next star in ‘Due Date’ with Robert Downey Jr. and ‘Hangover’ star Zach Galifianakis (out in the UK November 5). She is also set to appear in 'Conviction’ opposite Hilary Swank.

Her latest album is in stores now.
