Professor Green thinks American rap is too "flamboyant"

Professor Green has admitted that he doesn't understand why other rappers feel the need to brag about "popping champagne" or buying expensive jewellery.

The 'I Need You Tonight' star, who is currently at No.1 in the official UK Top 40 with 'Read All About It', explained to The Metro that British rap music simply isn't as "flamboyant" as its American counterpart:

"There's way too much bravado in rap. I know it's supposed to be aspirational, but what does spending 400 grand on a chain and popping champagne mean to anyone?"

"English acts aren't as flamboyant as those in the US. Our music started doing well when we let go of the Americanisms."

He also added that the "bravado" of U.S rap is replaced by "laddishness" in the UK and said: "I grew up in the East End didn't I, so that laddishness is always gonna be a part of me."
