9th October 2019 – Tonight, Attitude magazine – the world’s biggest gay media brand – hosted the eighth annual Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards powered by Jaguar, at the Camden Roundhouse, London.

Presented by Ross Mathews, the exclusive, invitation-only, star-studded ceremony at London’s Roundhouse welcomed a host of celebrity guests with entertainment on the night including a roof-raising performance from Attitude’s 2019 Breakthrough Award winner Ava Max performing her massive debut hit Sweet But Psycho, star of Tina The Musical Tsemaye Bob-Egbe delivering the classic Proud Mary, and classical music sensation Katherine Jenkins singing a goose-bump inducing take on the Judy Garland classic Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Music Award recipient MIKA closed the show with a storming five-song set.

Among the special guests to fly in from the USA were Tree Sequoia, collecting the Activism Award on behalf of all the people who fought back against oppression at the Stonewall Uprising 50 years ago, kick-starting the Pride movement. The Attitude Awards also welcomed Hero award recipient Ruth Coker Burks, who challenged discrimination against people with HIV and Aids in the early 80s when medical establishments and politicians in the USA were turning their backs on the crisis.

Darren Styles OBE, Publisher of Attitude magazine, said: “This has been the biggest ever Attitude Awards, with 650 guests, 13 extraordinary winners, a who’s who of presenters and four absolutely world class live acts. It is truly the best of the best - a landmark event for the LGBTQ+ community it serves. May the Attitude Awards winners inspire anyone, anywhere, of any age to embrace who they truly are, free to be the best that they can be.”

Juha Jarvinen, Executive Vice President Commerical at Virgin Atlantic, said: “This is the first year that Virgin Atlantic has supported the Attitude Awards, and it’s amazing to be a part of such a fabulous event.
