Today, UK R&B singer-songwriter, Sharna Bass releases her latest track ‘Murda’ taken from the forthcoming EP, ‘Damaged Goods’ accompanied by visuals - watch here

The track sees Sharna put her own spin on Klashnekoff’s iconic ‘Murda’ beat, produced by Harry Love. In typical Sharna Bass style she uses delicate and personal lyrics ‘Set myself on fire to keep you warm, tried making skies brighter, you bring in a storm’ to navigate us through life after the break down of a demanding relationship resulting in the murder of her past self, ‘I don’t even know me, Oh where is the old me’.

The single is accompanied by a Femi Oyeniran and Nicky “Slimting” Walker (Intent/Kidulthood) directed video featuring Sharna and Ashley Chin (The Intent) in an integration style set up in which Sharna opens up as her heartbreak leaves her exposed and vulnerable. Speaking on the track Sharna says "Murda represents a cry for help, when being heartbroken and feeling like you've lost yourself in the midst of madness".

‘Murda’ follows on from Sharna’s debut EP ‘Beautiful Chaos’ out earlier this year. ‘Beautiful Chaos’ sees Sharna channel the struggles of turbulent adolescence into raw, honest songwriting. Reflecting a cross-pollination of sounds, from London-rooted rap to polished R&B, Sharna possesses the energy of a young Lauryn Hill, speaking the pain of modern female strife. All of the tracks were produced during a stint in the States, while lyrically an emboldened Sharna approaches things with more maturity and life experience, she still sings with a vulnerability that resonates with the masses. 2020 saw Sharna Bass’ Buss A9 feature on the soundtrack for critically-acclaimed film Rocks.
