Debuting at the top spot with over 260,000 sales this week and a staggering 55.7 million streams across its 12 tracks, Adele’s ‘30’ has scored the fastest-selling album of 2021 so far and the biggest opening week on the UK’s Official Albums Chart since 2017. ‘30’ joins previous albums ‘19’ (2008), ‘21’ (2011), ‘25’ (2015) as Number #1s on the UK Official Albums Chart.

On November 19, Adele’s “30” broke the record for the most-streamed album in a day globally by a UK artist in Spotify history. Additionally, Adele broke the record for the most streamed UK artist globally in a day in Spotify history.

This week also sees Adele secure a UK #1 chart double as ‘30’ joins lead single ‘Easy on Me’ atop of the UK official chart. Commandeering the #1 position on the UK Top 40 chart since it was released six weeks ago, ‘Easy on Me’ is now Adele’s longest running UK #1 single. Adele also lands two other entries within the top 5 of the UK official chart, with ‘Oh My God’ debuting at #2 and ‘I Drink Wine’ at #4. Since release, ‘Easy On Me’ has broken numerous records including 24 million streams total first week streams in the UK and earnt the biggest week of digital download sales of 2021 so far, with 23,500. ‘Easy On Me’ also dominated UK radio, becoming the first record this year to break 100 million listeners in one week as it spends its 5th week at 1 across radio airplay.

‘30’ is being heralded by critics as Adele’s finest album to date. The Telegraph exclaimed “The songs are powerhouse, the performance bravura, the emotions intense as the British superstar wrings every last drop of heart and soul from tearjearking ballads to triumphalist pop” in their 5-star review of the album. Variety agreed and described ‘30’ as “a richer, more compelling collection that feels like her best.” Clash called the album “a work of personal and artistic triumph” and I-D noted “no one does it better.”
