Blair Dunlop, the award-winning British singer, songwriter and guitarist, releases ‘Fifty Shades of Blue’ the third single from his acclaimed 2014 album ‘House Of Jacks’. His second full length record lived up to the promise of his 2012 debut (the quality of which contributed to his winning the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award) and cemented his place as one of Britain’s most exciting talents to come from the folk scene. The Guardian stated that the ‘House Of Jacks’ proves Blair is ‘an increasingly adventurous songwriter’, Uncut reviewed it as ‘thoughtful and exploratory’, The Independent on Sunday described it as ‘fluent, lamentory and accomplished’ while Q Magazine wrote that House of Jacks is ‘an exciting glimpse of where traditional folk might go’.

A tale of denial that focuses on the “inherent problems of feigning comfort and ease with a situation” - described by Acoustic Magazine as “pure Sandy Denny heartbreak” – ‘Fifty Shades of Blue’ is another fine example of Blair’s gift for observational storytelling. The ability to craft such a perceptive song is matched by his talents as a guitarist and singer and the single is performed with both subtlety and conviction.

In April Blair will embark on a co-headline tour with British songwriter Emma Stevens.  As young, up-and-coming musicians, both Blair Dunlop and Emma Stevens cut their chops on the live circuit – Blair on the folk scene and Emma on the singer-songwriter circuit. Now with two albums apiece, and several solo headline tours under their belts, the two acclaimed musicians are joining forces.
