Canadian singer-songwriter Josh Taerk heads back to the UK at the end of this month to perform at Indie Week Europe, a festival celebrating and showcasing independent music which will take place in Manchester, in a variety of venues, over the course of 5 days. Josh and his Nashville based band will be playing three shows during the festival, he is one of only a handful of Canadian acts to have been chosen to perform at Indie Week Europe. In addition, Josh will be appearing at the Indie101 conference speaking as a part of the 'Conquering North America' panel. Josh will be playing tracks from his upcoming new album 'Here’s To Change' - released 20th of July 2015 - which he played for the first time on his recent 'Coffee House Sessions' tour, as well as performing songs from his debut album ‘Josh’. 'Here’s To Change' was recorded over a few months in Nashville, with producer Teddy Morgan (Kevin Costner and Modern West), where Josh got to soak up the creative atmosphere of 'MusicCity'. He wanted to make an album in tune with the artists that have inspired him to play and write music, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Neil Young, 70’s and 80’s Rock Music; with a vision of producing this album in a studio with a band and playing those songs live. "I wanted the feel of the record, the tempo, the rhythm, the starts and stops in each song to feel more alive; I wanted a more human sound," explains Josh.
Josh recently shared the official video for the first single from his new album - the title track 'Here’s To Change' - an upbeat anthem about celebrating life’s changes. Josh explains, "For me, this song is about embracing the idea that there are no guarantees in life. Everything changes, and if that’s the case then it’s never too late to change from the person you are to the person you want to be."
The album also includes guest vocals from Rock-'n’-Roll-Hall-of-Famer and friend John Oates on tracks 'Here’s To Change' and 'Wise Man'. "I've enjoyed getting to know Josh Taerk and his music over the last few years...I think it is Josh's best work to date."
Set for release early summer 2015 'Here’s To Change' marks a huge development in the creative process for Josh, taking a more traditional Rock ’n’ Roll approach and adding his own modern twists – the outcome is something he is enormously proud of. Josh exclaims, "I am so excited for people to hear this!"
