Take That star Robbie Williams has backed Tesco checkout lady Mary Byrne for X Factor victory.

Speaking at a private gig for Magic FM at Notting Hill venue Supperclub, Williams made it clear who his X Factor favourite is, “I love Mary. She’s brilliant. I mean, she’s no SUBO, but we could all do with a bit of Mary in our lives." 

50-year-old Byrne has also been impressing the X Factor judges, with Simon Cowell calling her “seriously, seriously good." 

She wowed audiences at the weekend with her rendition of the James Brown classic 'It's A Man's Man's World', resulting in her odds of winning being slashed to 21-1 by bookmakers.
